45th European Symposium on Occultation Projects
will be held in Toulouse, France, 22 – 23. August 2026

The European Symposium on Occultation Projects (ESOP) is an annual scientific meeting organised by the International Occultation Timing Association/European Section (IOTA/ES).
It joins the community interested in stellar occultations phenomena, the field of observational astronomy which has recently seen a great development thanks to the Gaia astrometric mission.
In 2026, the symposium will be held in a hybrid format in Toulouse, in southwestern France. Toulouse is one of Europe’s capitals for the aeronautics and space industries. The sessions will take place in the “Salle de la Marne” in Quint-Fonsegrives. This air-conditioned venue can accommodate 100 people and is equipped with a large video projector.
As a traditional part of the ESOP, alongside the conference, additional trips will be offered, to tourist and scientific sites. In addition to a trip to downtown Toulouse, we suggest you visit the Pic du Midi observatory, the “Cité de l’Espace” (the Toulouse space museum), the city of Carcassonne, the Airbus factory and the Aeroscopia museum.
We will be glad to see you in Toulouse in person, but a free on-line participation via Zoom will also be offered after earlier registration.
